I like this idea. It’ll never happen in reality but I wonder if a website could be setup where models in blank coveralls have their heads replaced with Congressional heads and then the logos photoshopped in. Combine this with info from the sunlight foundation and I think we’d have a great start on straightening out congress.

I work in Lehi. Man I need to get out of here. Seriously, a road named after a flower got renamed because the city council heard that there was another “meaning” for it on Urban Dictionary? I kind of want to add definitions to Urban Dictionary for the names of the council members.

He looks small and far away but he was close enough to yell and talk to. Also, behind me about 100 yards are houses. I think I could live in Daly City.

She did this entirely on her own. The previous week she did it in the Porsche too. There once in place she stuck out her hand for the keys and once handed over, started trying to put them in the right place. Lucky for me the Boxster has the keys go on the “wrong” side of the steering wheel.

So why are we as a county getting ~20% of our energy from a 60+ year old nuclear power plant design that is known to have a number of safety issues, instead of basing it on a known safer nuclear technology? Highlights from the talk: no uranium, no plutonium, no ultra high pressure vessels, no need for large amounts of water, worst case scenario the design of the reactor causes itself to go into shut-down (not melt-down), and we already have a massive supply of the fuel? Also, the waste, 83% is inert in 10 years (not 10s of thousands) and 17% is inert in 300 years. 10 minute video from a NASA engineer.

Google continuing to use their wads of cash for interesting and useful things. I would love it if all computers could boot in just a few seconds. Hopefully this filters out to all computers in the nearish future.

So it turns out you don’t need a heart to live. These people had marginal hearts and got an inline turbine installed with the heart to help give the blood a boost. Turns out in a few cases some hearts stopped all together but the turbines didn’t. The people hadn’t even noticed their hearts weren’t. They’re literally running around with no pulse. Which is something else you can live without.

Toyota’s new concept car FT-Bh. I love it! I think it’s a great little city car. It’s small, lightly weight, seats 4, hybrid that gets 118 mpg combined. Amazing what you can do with low drag and low weight.

Solar cells keep advancing. I’ve heard that regular panels are slightly cheaper to operate than standard grid power now in San Diego, it’s only a matter of time before that efficiency (and grid cost) spreads to the rest of the country. In this picture, that’s a single later of Si atoms!

Megalodon was huge! Check out this picture at the Earth Science Pic of the Day. The smaller white teeth on top are Great White Shark teeth. The lower darker fossil one is from Megalodon. It was bigger than my house!
